A. Edward Kindell

A. Edward Kindell, 79, of Bellefontaine, passed away Friday, March 26, 2010, at Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine, following a short bout with cancer. He was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio, and was the youngest son of the late N.S. and Ruth Kindell. He also was preceded in death by an older brother, Walter.

Ed graduated from Bellefontaine High School in 1948 and attended Ohio Northern University for two years, before serving in the Air Force during the Korean War. Upon returning from the service, he worked for A.J. Miller Co. and then went on to receive his Masters Degree from Wright State University. He was instrumental in helping to establish Edison State Community College in Piqua, Ohio, where he served as the first business manager. From there he became the purchasing manager for Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio until his retirement in 1993.

Ed also was preceded in death by his first wife, Daisy Quay. There are four surviving children from their marriage.  Mike (Kathy) Kindell of Hilliard, Ohio; Tom (Mona) Kindell of Greenville, Ohio; Dave (Marnie) Kindell of Brookville, Ohio; and Beth Skidmore of Brookville, Ohio. They had eleven grandchildren, three step grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

In 1995, he married his loving and devoted wife, the former Betty Peters, and she survives along with a son, Chris (Kim) Peters of Liberty, Texas, and one grandchild.  Also surviving are two sisters, Ruth (Fred) Meredith of Bellefontaine, and Theda Bauer of Quitman, Georgia.

Eds love for life and his fellow man was boundless. His magnetic smile and cunning sense of humor was a blessing to all who knew and loved him.

Among his greatest joys was participating in family activities and communication with his many cherished friends but especially the members of the Class of 1948 which he served as the secretary-treasurer for many years.

Ed was a member of the Jaycees, Elks Lodge # 132, the American Legion and the High Point Investment Association.

He was a faithful member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Bellefontaine, where a celebration of life will be conducted Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at 11:00 A.M., by Pastor Rob Fulton and Gene Marine. Calling hours will be held at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine from 5 to 8 P.M. Monday, March 29, 2010.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Presbyterian Church  117 N. Main St.  Bellefontaine, Ohio 43311
