Albert J. Smith

Albert J. Smith of West Liberty, Ohio, died Thursday May 21, at 9:50 A.M. at the Green Hills Care Center in West Liberty. He was born in Auglaize county Ohio, to Albert A. (Hazel) and Margaret P. Spencer Smith. He married Harriett L. Taylor on March 13, 1943 in Bellefontaine, Ohio, and she survives. Also surviving are two daughters Dale L. (Bob) Haddix of Lakeview, Ohio, and Susan A. (Lloyd) Oliver of West Liberty; four sons; James A. (Virginia) Smith of Urbana, Ohio, Bill J. (Ginny) Smith of Kingscreek, Ohio, Jack L. (Connie) Smith of Louisville, Kentucky, Brian J. (Trudy) Smith of Springfield, Ohio; one brother Armond �Bud� (Vicky) Smith of Reno, Nevada. There are twenty two grandchildren, thirty four great grandchildren, and eight great great grandchildren.  He attended the Faith Fellowship Church in Urbana.

He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army. He was with the first wave that invaded Normandy and saw action in Northern France, the Rhineland�s, Ardennes and Central Europe. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW in Urbana. He retired from the Elliott Company as a machinist in Springfield, Ohio. 

Calling hours will be Monday, May 25, 2009, from 4 P.M. until 7 P.M., and one hour prior to the funeral service at the Kauffman-Eichholtz Funeral Home in West Liberty. The funeral service will be Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at 11 A.M. with pastor Roger Childers officiating. Burial will be in the Huntsville Cemetery in Huntsville, Ohio. The Logan County Honor Guard will conduct Military Services at the graveside.
