Anna Lee Godwin
Anna Lee Godwin, 76, went home to be with the Lord Monday, April 18, 2011 at Green Hills Center in West Liberty, Ohio, with her family by her side. She was born February 9, 1935, to the late Henry T. Bateman and Marie Bush Bateman in Hogsett, West Virginia. She was also proceeded death by two sisters, Wanda King and Mildred Davis as well as a brother John Bateman. On January 13, 1955, she married Eugene Harold Godwin and he survives along with a daughter Tamara (Tom) Allison of Bellefontaine, Ohio and son Dr. Jeffrey (Kathy) Godwin of Pennsylvania; four grandchildren Travis Allison, Taylor Allison, Elizabeth Ferre, and Matthew Godwin; two brothers Henry (Tina) Bateman of Sidney, Ohio, George (Becky) Bateman of Bellefontaine; sister Joyce Moore of Delaware. Ohio; mother in law, Edna K. Godwin and many nieces and nephews. A 1953 graduate of Zanesfield Monroe High School, she was an office manager and bookkeeper for twenty six years at Daring Chevrolet Cadillac prior to working as a secretary to the guidance counselors at Bellefontaine High School for thirteen years. She was a member of the Goshen Friends Church of Zanesfield, where she enjoyed planning events for her Sunday school class and hosting dinners for the elderly widow women of the church. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, her family was her most precious treasure. She enjoyed cooking, the beach, her winters in Florida with her husband, and spending time with her grandchildren. Rev. Fred Kensler and Rev. Fred Clogg will officiate the funeral service at 11:00 A.M. Friday, April 22, 2011, at the Goshen Friends Church 5527 County Road 153 in Zanesfield, Ohio. Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 P.M. Thursday, April 21, 2011 at the church in Zanesfield, as well as one hour prior to the service on Friday. Interment will be in the Zanesfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in her memory may be made to: Green Hills Retirement Community 6557 US Highway 68 S West Liberty, OH 43357-9536 or the Mary Rutan Foundation 205 E Palmer Ave. Bellefontaine, OH 43311 The staff of the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine assisted the family with arrangements.
