Barbara Ann Coons

Barbara Ann Coons, 65, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, died Friday, September 19, 2008, in her home.

She was born in Lima, Ohio, on October 29, 1942, a daughter of Bernadette Roof Bensman, who survives in Bellefontaine, and the late Herbert J. Bensman. She also was preceded in death by a sister, Susan Gildow; and brothers-in-law, Larry and Charles Coons, Larry Sickles, Bill Allen and Gary Hesser.

On September 28, 1968, she married Garry Coons in Dayton, Ohio, and he survives, along with a son, Jason G. (Toni) Coons of Bellefontaine; daughter, Elizabeth Ann VanOsdol of Austin, Texas; brothers, Ron (Cheryl) Bensman, Gary Bensman and Herb Bensman, all of Bellefontaine, Bob Bensman of Stonepark, Illinois; and Dennis (Deb) Bensman of Lewistown; sisters, Ruth Sickles, Linda Allen, Donna Hesser and Darlene (Phil) Arthur, all of Belle Center, and Virginia (Tom) Gimbel of Bellefontaine; grandchild, Marly Coons; brother-in-law, Jim Gildow of Bellefontaine; and sister-in-law, Judy Coons of Bellefontaine.

A 1960 graduate of Belle Center High School, she was a member of St. Patrick Church in Bellefontaine.

She retired from the Bellefontaine Municipal Court and previously worked at Mary Rutan Hospital Cardiac Rehab and Colonial Federal Savings & Loan.

Rev. Patrick Sheridan will conduct a memorial service at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 23, 2008, at the St. Patrick Catholic Church. Burial is in the Fairview Cemetery in Belle Center. Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine, where condolences may be expressed at eichholtz@embarqmail.com

Memorial contributions may be made to Universal Home Health & Hospice Care, 701 S. Main St., and the Ewing H. Crawfis Oncology Clinic, 2160 Ewing Crawfis Circle, both in Bellefontaine, Ohio 43311.
