Bettie Jo Kerns

Bettie Jo Kerns, 83, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine. She was born on April 15, 1926, in Delphos, Ohio, to the late Ray and Emma (Blocberger) Wayner.

On February 17, 1945, she married Merlin R. Kerns in Wapakoneta, Ohio, and he survives along with their sons, Greg A. (Carole) Kerns of Ft. Myers, Florida and Steven Kerns of Bellefontaine; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Her brothers, Robert and Norman Wayner and a sister, Ruth Wendel preceded her in death.

A 1944 graduate of Bloom High School in Wapakoneta, Bettie Jo was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Bellefontaine, Mary Rutan Hospital Guild and a substitute teacher at the Hi-Point Career Center. She owned and operated the House of Flowers.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, July 6, 2009, at the First Lutheran Church in Bellefontaine.
