Betty L. Metz

Betty L. Metz, 82, of Urbana, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2009, at the McAuley Center in Urbana. She was born on September 29, 1926 in Champaign County to the late Walter & Mary K. (Jenkins) Neer. She married Samuel W. Metz on April 23, 1949 in Urbana and he preceded her in death in 1998.  Also preceding her death is one infant daughter, 2 brothers, Lewis and Jerry Neer, a sister, Dorothy Wheeler and one granddaughter.

Surviving are 2 sons, Jack (Kathy Russell) Metz of Urbana and David (Patti) Metz of Lakeland, Florida; 2 daughters, Sandy (Don) Crow of Springfield, Ohio, Phyllis (Allen) Campbell of Kingscreek, Ohio, 3 brothers, Walter Neer of Urbana, Charles Neer of Piqua, Ohio, and Jimmy K. Neer of West Liberty, Ohio, 3 sisters, Mary Hildreth, Karen Sue Neer and Sharon Annabelle Beaty all of Urbana, and 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

A homemaker, she was a member and very active at the Mt. Carmel Friends Church. Betty enjoyed having a big garden and provided family and friends with vegetables. She loved to cook and bake, especially Christmas candy.

Calling hours will be Friday, February 20, 2009, from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Kauffman-Eichholtz Funeral Home in West Liberty. Pastor Michael Will will conduct the funeral service at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 21, 2009, at the Mt. Carmel Friends Church.  Burial will follow at the Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Champaign County Ohio.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Carmel Friends Church Building Fund  3470 Kennard Kingscreek Road  Cable, Ohio 43009.
