Byron L. Wilgus

Byron L. Wilgus, 58, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Monday, December 14, 2009, at the Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine. He was born June 25, 1951, in Bellefontaine, to the late Donald and Donna Mae (Norris) Wilgus. 

He is survived by his wife, Janet L. (Smith) Wilgus whom he married on November 19, 2000 in Bellefontaine. Also surviving are his daughters, Penny P. Wilgus of Bellefontaine and her mother, Sang R. Pak of Hawaii, Heidi J. (James) Collins of North Lewisburg, Ohio, and Amy A. (Corey) Grant of Belle Center, Ohio; his pet dogs, Lucky, Marshmallow, Sarge, Trooper, Private, Ranger, a pet cat named Tom and a visiting pet named Blue; brothers, Jim (Sue) Wilgus, John (Lori) Wilgus, Chuck (Sandy) Wilgus and David Wilgus, all of Bellefontaine, and Phil (Kathy) Wilgus of Columbus; sisters Patricia and Becky Wilgus, both of Bellefontaine; five grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Sandy Myers.

A 1969 graduate of Benjamin Logan, he was an Army and Air Force veteran serving in Vietnam and Desert Storm. He retired from the Air Force as a Master Sergeant and enjoyed fishing. He worked at the First United Presbyterian Church in Bellefontaine.

Rev. Rob Fulton will preside over a memorial service at 6:00 P.M. on Friday, December 18, 2009, at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine, where friends may call from 4 to 6 P.M. prior to the service. A Military Service will be held at 4:00 P.M. at the funeral home, conducted by the Logan County Veterans Honor Guard.
