| Charles W. Shirk Charles W. Shirk, 94, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2010, at the Lima Memorial Hospital in Lima, Ohio. He was born August 15, 1915 in Champaign County, Ohio, to the late Clarence E. and Glena Blanche (Stanford) Shirk. On October 9, 1940, he married Shirley Jean Ferryman in West Liberty, Ohio, and she preceded him in death September 1, 2006. He was also preceded in death by an infant son, Robert Shirk and a brother, Roy Shirk. Surviving are three sons, Charles W. (Debra) Shirk of Toledo, Ohio, and Garry W. Shirk of West Chester, Ohio; two daughters, Connie (Darel) Hurley of DeGraff, Ohio, and Linda (Norman) Thompson of Ada, Ohio; two brothers, Max (Jenny) Shirk and Clarence (Marie) Shirk of St. Paris, Ohio; nine grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Charles retired from Miller Meteor where he worked as a supervisor and retired after forty years of service. He was a 1935 graduate of Concord High School and was a World War II Navy veteran. A member of the DeGraff United Methodist Church, he also was a member of the Hi-Point See Saw Square Dance Club, Piqua Totem Camping Club, National Hikers & Campers Association and the Senior Citizen Group II. He was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan. Calling hours are Sunday, March 28, 2010, from 2 to 5 P.M. at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine, where Pastor Carolyn Christman will conduct the funeral service at 11:00 A.M. Monday, March 29, 2010. Burial will follow the funeral service in the Huntsville Cemetery in Huntsville, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to Putnam County Hospice P.O.
