Clarissa Elizabeth Anderson

Clarissa Elizabeth Anderson, 86, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2009, at the Logan Acres Care Center in Bellefontaine, Ohio. She was born in Mt. Vernon, Ohio, on January 10, 1923, to the late Thomas Augustus and Mary Elizabeth (Kelly) Ralls. She was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Blaine Anderson.

On February 19, 1942, 67 years ago, she married Russel Blaine Anderson and he survives. Also surviving is a son, Thomas Russel (Renee) Anderson of Forest, Ohio; daughters, Marlena Jean (Dennis) Elliott of Sacramento, California, Brenda Janiece Billhimer of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Marcella Jeanette Clark of Bellefontaine; a sister, Betty Jean Proffit of Mt. Vernon, Ohio; ten grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Clarissa, was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker and worked alongside her husband at their family owned business, Brookside Fruit Farm. She was also employed at Mary Rutan Hospital as a dietitian. Clarissa was a 1941 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School, a member of the Wayman A.M.E. Church in Mt. Vernon, and for many years, a volunteer for the American Heart Association. She was an avid Ohio State fan and enjoyed playing the piano and violin.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 23, 2009, at the Mound View Cemetery  307 Wooster Road in Mt. Vernon  Ohio.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association  1313 W. Dorothy Lane  Kettering, OH 45409. 

The Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine handled the arrangements.
