Donald E. Vassar, 82, of West Liberty, Ohio, passed away at 1:47 P.M. Saturday, March 5, 2011, at the Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. He was born in Belle Center, Ohio May 1, 1928, to the late Joe and Bessie Kate (Rollins) Vassar. He was also preceded in death by two sisters. 

On August 17, 1947 in West Liberty, he married his wife of sixty three years, Doris M. Farley and she survives.

Also surviving are sons, Jim Vassar and John (Linda) Vassar both of Urbana, Ohio; daughters, Sally J. (Ron) Stine of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, and Nancy (David) Spain of North Lewisburg, Ohio; grandchildren, Chris (Wendy) Strausbaugh, Andie Strausbaugh, Brian (Sonja Louden) Spain, Jenny Obryan, Desnee (Brad) Wolters, Amanda Litton, Tyler and Jessica Vassar; great grandchildren, Ajia and Zoe Strausbaugh, Austin & Brady Litton, Mia Jo, Camden & Wesley Wolters and Liam Obryan; sisters, Juanita Kennedy of Springfield, Ohio, and Betty Craddock of West Liberty, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He attended the South Union Mennonite Church and was a 1946 graduate of West Liberty-Salem High School. He loved dogs and flying radio controlled airplanes. 

Honoring Don�s wishes, a private graveside service will be conducted at the convenience of the family.
