Dr. David Haskell Black
Dr. David Haskell Black, 82, of West Liberty, Ohio, passed away at 2:48 P.M. Sunday, April 10, 2011 at the Green Hills Care Center in West Liberty. He was born in Elyria, Ohio May 2, 1928, a son of the late Wayne C. and Lila M. (Smith) Black. He married the former Betty Louise Sells February 24, 1997 in Bellefontaine, and she survives. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis (Black) Collister. Also surviving are two sons, Dallas (Carolyn) Black of Bowling Green, Ohio, and Douglas Black and his partner Judy of Athens and a daughter, Jennifer Black Scott, all of which were by his former wife, Brenda Tomlinson Black of Bowling Green; six grandchildren, Ryland Black, Griffin Black, Thompson Black, Carson Black, Mathew Scott & Christian Scott; a sister, Pat Black of Avon Lake, Ohio; six step children born to Betty by previous marriages to Jack E. McCumber and Bill Mitchell both deceased, Keith E. McCumber of Salina, Kansas, Yvonne L. McCumber Sauerbrun of Dayton, Ohio, Jack A. McCumber and Michael O. McCumber both of Bellefontaine, John D. Mitchell of Phoenix, Arizona and David A. Mitchell of Chino Valley, Arizona. He attended the United Church of Christ and was a graduate of Hiram College. Private services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
