Emanuel Joseph �Shorty� Ropp
Emanuel Joseph �Shorty� Ropp, 86, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, went home to meet his Lord the morning of June 9, 2011. He was born November 26, 1924 in Urbana, Ohio, to the late Cliff and Nellie (Kibbler) Ropp. A loving husband of sixty three years, he married Phyllis Marie LeVan of Bellefontaine August 5, 1948, and she survives. The couple had one daughter, Diana Marie (Warren) Baughman of Bellefontaine. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Crystal Irene Ropp of Bellefontaine; a brother-in-law, Richard Eugene (Linda) LeVan of West Liberty, Ohio, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his siblings Mrs. Raymond (Rowena) McNichol, Mrs. Earl (Sally) Randall and David and Clyde Ropp. A member of the First Church of God in Bellefontaine, he was employed for thirty eight years as a conductor with New York Central, Penn Central and Conrail. He was a World War II United States Navy Veteran serving on the USS Saratoga in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of the United Transportation Union and the American Legion Post #173 in Bellefontaine. Pastor Ray Headings will conduct the 11:00 A.M. graveside service at the Fairview Cemetery in West Liberty Monday, June 13, 2011, with military honors by the Logan County Veterans Honor Guard. Brown Ave. Bellefontaine, Ohio 43311 The staff of the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine handled the arrangements.
