Florence E. Boyd

Florence E. Boyd, 86, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, and formerly of West Liberty, Ohio, passed away at the Green Hills Care Center in West Liberty, Monday, September 20, 2010 surrounded by her family. She was born June 21, 1924 in Albany, New York to the late Gerald and Ethel (Hughes) Thatcher. She was raised by her late grandparents, Carl and Estelle Randall. 

On December 17, 1943 she married Coleman L.�Red� Boyd in Tampa, Florida, and he preceded her in death November 2, 1995. Also preceding her in death was a sister, Jean Folzone.

Surviving is a daughter, Debora Hackett of Bellefontaine; sons, Randy (Jill) Boyd of Anna, Ohio, and Scott (Cindee) Boyd of West Liberty; a sister, Joan (Mel) Melzone of Framingham, Massachusetts; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Nancy Boyd of Urbana, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Nancy Inskeep of Urbana; grandchildren, Kelly and Thomas Hackett, Keri (Hackett) Campbell, Andrew, Adam, Nathan, Chelsie and Coby Boyd and David and Casey Thompson and thirteen great grandchildren.

Florence worked at Westinghouse and was a member of the West Liberty Presbyterian Church and active in Emmaus. An avid reader, she enjoyed playing cards and eating out with many of her friends.

Pastor Angie Schenk will conduct the funeral service at 11:00 A.M. Friday, September 24, 2010, at the West Liberty Presbyterian Church, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the West Liberty Presbyterian Church  215 W. Columbus Ave.  West Liberty, OH 433157
