| Harry Glett Jr. Harry Glett Jr., 87, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, died Sunday, September 28, 2008, in Heartland of Bellefontaine. He was born in Logan County on September 27, 1921, a son of the late Harry and Thersa Belle Swartz Glett. He also was preceded in death by brothers, George and Richard Glett; and a sister, Sarah Jane Glett. On December 30, 1948, he married the former Mary Jane McGowan in Covington, Kentucky., and she survives, along with sons, Ronald B. (Linda) Glett and Braden (Sharon) Glett, both of New Carlisle, Bryan (Sabrina) Glett of Bellefontaine and Brooks (Mariane) Glett of United Arab Emirates; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A1939 graduate of Quincy High School, he graduated from The Ohio State University with a bachelor of science degree in agriculture in 1943 and was a general crop and livestock farmer. He also taught vocational agriculture classes at OSU from 1946 to 1950. After graduating from Notre Dame Mid Shipman School, he became a U.S. Naval Reserve commissioned officer in 1944 and was commanding officer of the USS DuPont during World War II, serving in the Pacific and the Atlantic. He was a life member of the VFW Post 1080 in Bellefontaine and was a member of the American Legion. He attended the First Lutheran Church in Bellefontaine and played fastpitch softball in DeGraff, Jackson Center and with the Ohio State fastpitch team. He was known as a notable pitcher. Pastor Jonathan Bull will conduct a memorial service at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 2, 2008, at the First Lutheran Church, where calling is one hour prior to the service.
