Helen Frances Yoder
Helen Frances Yoder, 88, of West Liberty, Ohio, a resident of Green Hills Retirement Community, went to her heavenly home Tuesday, January 4, 2011. She was born in Logan County, Ohio January 8, 1922, the daughter of the late Hamer and Leah Hostetler. She graduated from Bellefontaine High School (Ohio) in 1940 and married Stanley Plank Yoder May 11, 1941. He preceded her in death September 7, 2006. Survivors include her seven children: Sherril (Leroy) Walters of Decatur, Indiana; Janet (Dick) Mally of West Liberty, Penny (Bob) Frey of West Liberty, Steve (Gina) Yoder of Thornton, Colorado, Barbara Heath of Brighton, Tennessee, Dianne Jensen of Arvada, Colorado and Tom (Judy) Yoder of Elkhart, Indiana; ninteen grandchildren, and twenty six great grandchildren. Others surviving are a sister, Miriam Headings of West Liberty, a brother, Kenny (Jeanette) Hostetler of Bellefontaine, Ohio; and a sister-in-law, Celia (Gayler) Hooley of West Liberty. Helen and her husband farmed in Champaign County, Ohio for many years until moving to Scottdale, Pennsylvania in 1956. Helen spent her entire life as a loving wife and mother. As some of her children had grown, she worked outside the home at the Mennonite Publishing House and later the Provident Bookstore in Scottdale. In 1983, she and her husband retired and returned to West Liberty where they lived until their deaths. A loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, she was a member of the South Union Mennonite Church in West Liberty. She loved her family, friends and her Lord and was ready to meet him in heaven. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 P.M. and 6 to 8 P.M. Friday, January 7, 2011 at the Kauffman-Eichholtz Funeral Home in West Liberty. Rev. Howard Schmitt will officiate a memorial service at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 8, 2011 at the South Union Mennonite Church in West Liberty. Memorial contributions may be given to the Mennonite Central Committee or South Union Mennonite Church. |
