Helen Louise Shields

Helen Louise Shields, age 93, of West Liberty, Ohio, went to be with her Lord Monday, June 14, 2010 at the Green Hills Care Center in West Liberty. She was born in Logan County, Ohio April 4, 1917, the daughter of the late James and Laura L. Spurlock Berry. On April 17, 1936, she married Orville  L. Shields and he preceded her in death on February 22, 1973. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Melvin and Edward Berry; sisters, Eileen Samples, Mary Lowe; and two grand children.

She is survived by daughter, Evelyn Carol Kuba of West Liberty; son, Melvin �Mel� Lloyd (Alice) Shields of Bellefontaine, Ohio; grandchildren, Mark (Sara) Shields of Sidney, Ohio, Sherri (Perry) Hodies of Bellefontaine, David (Misty) Shields of Jackson Center, Ohio, Diane Shields (Dave Anderson) of Bellefontaine, Keith Kuba of Lima, Ohio, Tammy (Edward) Prall of Pickerelltown, Ohio, Risa Kuba of St. Mary�s, Ohio; several great grandchildren, and her pet poodle, Cody.

Helen retired from Mary Rutan Hospital where she was an assistant supervisor in housekeeping. She was a devoted member of the First Church of God in Bellefontaine where she helped with many activities within the church. Helen loved to plant flowers, attend ice cream socials, and spend time with her family.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at the First Church of God in Bellefontaine, with Pastor C. J. Plogger and Pastor Ray Headings presiding. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the funeral service at the church.

Memorials contributions may be made to the First Church of God and the Benevolence Fund.
