Jack W. Ackerman

Jack W. Ackerman, 82, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2011, at Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine, as the result of a traffic accident near Belle Center, Ohio. He was born in Hershey, Pennsylvania June 24, 1928, a son of the late Harold and Lillian (Raczkowski) Ackerman.

On August 24, 1948 in Hershey, Pennsylvania, he married his wife of fifty two years, the former Dorothy M. Eutsey  and she preceded him in death December 24, 1999. They moved to the Bellefontaine area in 1995 from Mason, Michigan and Jack worked for many years as a District Manager for GMC trucks, earning many awards for his accomplishments with the company. After leaving GM, he owned and operated several businesses in the Mason and Lansing areas in Michigan. Jack and his wife were founding members of All Saints Lutheran Church in Mason, Michigan, where they served for many years.

He leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters, Jacki L. Brady of Sylvania, Ohio, and Debra M. (James J. Biery) Darling  of Belle Center; four grandchildren, Douglas (Debbie) Mollsen of Holland, Ohio, Elizabeth (Kevin) Booth of Sylvania, Ohio, Wendy A. (Troy) Vance of Lakeview, Ohio, and Tammy D. (Lee) Atha of Albany, Ohio; six great grandchildren, John J. Booth, Kaleb X. Vance, Nikolas C. Vance, Reid B. Vance, Landon B. Atha, and Elyse R. Atha.

Jack spent many happy times with his friend, Muriel Horner of Bellefontaine. He will be sadly missed by each and everyone of us along with his best buddy, Rudder.

Pastor David Buchenroth will conduct the funeral service at 12 noon Friday, May 27, 2011, at the Galilee Lutheran Church in Russells Point, Ohio, where friends may call from 10 A.M. to noon prior to the service. Interment will take place at the Bellefontaine Cemetery.
