James W. Clifton

James W. Clifton, 84, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2011, in the emergency room at Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine. He was born in London, Ohio July 3, 1927, a son of the late Elmer and Dorothy (Wendell) Clifton. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Scott Kuhn; siblings, Mary Mulky, Francis Puckett, Sarah Anderson, Donald Clifton, Elmer Clifton, Jr. and Richard Clifton.

He married the former Joanne L. Duty October 14, 1961, and she preceded him in death May 25, 1999.

He worked for Super Foods for thirty years retiring in 1992. He also managed the Kamp-A-Lot campground for a number of years and was a greeter at Wal-Mart in Bellefontaine.

He was in the Coast Guard Auxiliary and a member of First United Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the Lions Club of Bellefontaine, the Friendly Senior Group and the Indian Lake Moose Lodge #1533. He spent winters in North Carolina.

He is survived by sons, John W. (Celeste) Clifton of Florida and Steve D. Clifton of Bellefontaine; daughters, Jerri (Les) Foreman, Bev McDonnell, Debbie Wagy, Vickie Neeld and Terri Jo (Sam) Miller all of Bellefontaine; sixteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; very best friend, Treva Fanaff of Bellefontaine; sisters, Betty Meadows and Bernetta Ray.

Pastor Ron Irick will conduct the funeral service at 11:00 A.M. Monday, August 1, 2011 at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine, where calling hours are Sunday, July 31, 2011 from 2 to 4 P.M. and 6 to 8 P.M. Interment will be in the Zanesfield Cemetery in Zanesfield, Ohio.
