Larry E. Groves

Larry E. Groves, 73, of Rushsylvania, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at Heartland of Bellefontaine. He was born October 5, 1937 in Hardin County Ohio, to the late Taylor and Bernice (Shaffer) Groves. 

On April 4, 1973, he married Luella Mae (Slater) Duncan Groves in Rushsylvania, and she preceded him in death March 25, 2007. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Alfred Groves and a sister, Evelyn Groves. 

Surviving is a daughter, Mary (Michael) Spence of Rushsylvania; three step-sons, John (Sue) Duncan of Kenton, Ohio, Melvin Duncan of Springfield, Ohio, and Steve Duncan of Bellefontaine; two step-daughters, Dianna Cushwa of West Mansfield, Ohio and Mary Pierre of Marysville, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Margot Groves of Lawton, Oklahoma; twenty five grandchildren; thirty great grandchildren; great friends, Bob and Judy Culp of Rushsylvania; and his nurse, Stacie Jones. 

Larry worked for the Belle Center Creamery and Equity Dairy delivering milk. 

He was a member of the Rushsylvania Church of Christ. A huge Ohio State fan, Larry loved all sports, baseball, football, and basketball, high school and pro. He also was a NASCAR fan and he enjoyed tinkering around his home and garage.

Pastor Lynn Cleaveland will conduct the 1:00 P.M. funeral service at the Rushsylvania Church of Christ Monday, April 11, 2011, where calling hours are from 11 to 1 prior to the service. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Belle Center, Ohio.
