Marion Edward Wenger

Marion Edward Wenger, 79, of West Liberty, Ohio, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2009, in his home after an 18 month battle with cancer. He was born December 28, 1929 in West Liberty, the son of William and Mary (Shantz) Wenger.

Marion was a life-long resident of the West Liberty area. He had a fence building business for many years and farmed most of his life. He loved the outdoors and had many interests including hunting, riding horses, and four wheeling. In later years he enjoyed raising donkeys. He followed college basketball as well as the Cincinnati Reds. Marion loved his family, getting the most enjoyment from family meals with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife Shirley (Headings) whom he married on May 20,1951; sons Ed (Mel) Wenger and Cliff (Tami) Wenger, both of West Liberty, and Rob (Molly) Wenger of Zanesfield, Ohio. Daughters Marie Lawson and Ann (Erwin) Morrow, both of Urbana, Ohio; Kaleen (Terry) Hamm, Crista (Jeff) Shoemaker, and Lisa Wenger, all of West Liberty. Marion is also survived by nineteen grandchildren and fourteen great  grandchildren; brother Eldon Wenger of Fredericktown; sisters Hazel Lehman of Pennsylvania, Libby Carpenter of Bellefontaine, and Ruth Stickrod of Montana.  

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers; Don, Bill, Kenny and grandsons, Darius Popp and Even Jordan.    

Calling hours are Sunday, July 19, 2009, from 1 P.M. to 4 P.M. at the Bethel Mennonite Church in West Liberty. Following the calling hours, a memorial service will be held with Rev. Dave Maurer officiating.

Marion�s wishes were to donate his body to The Ohio State University Medical Center for scientific research.
