Mildred Jeannette Wells Cowan

Mildred Jeannette Wells Cowan, 78, of Huntsville, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2009, of a heart condition while driving in Bellefontaine. She was born on July 21, 1930 in Kenton, Ohio, to the late William Wilson and Leilah Josephine (Johnson) Wells.

Mildred was a 1948 graduate of Kenton High School, where she was a member of the marching band and the National Honor Society. She graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Education in 1971 from Trenton State College in Trenton, New Jersey. She worked for many years in New Jersey as a Prudential agent.

On July 5, 1953, she married Richard Cowan in Kenton, Ohio, and he survives. Also surviving are 3 children, Valerie Lynn (David Hogan) Cowan of Marlborough, Massachusetts, Leslie Diane (Mark) Keyse of Sharpsville, Indiana, and Clinton Adair Cowan of Northfield, Minnesota; 3 grandchildren, Nathaniel David (Julie) Keyse of Cincinnati, Ohio, Sarah Elizabeth Keyse of Sharpsville, Indiana, and Gwendolyn Audrey Hogan of Marlborough, Massachusetts; a sister, Mary (William) Wentz of Kenton, Ohio, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by 3 sisters.

She was a life member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary #8832 in Roundhead, Ohio, and the Logan County Friendly Senior Center. She enjoyed cooking and baking and received many awards at the Hardin and Logan County Fairs. She was the happiest when surrounded by family and friends during the holidays. She was a caring person and was deeply disturbed by the hunger of the under-privileged.

It was her desire to be cremated after the donation of usable organs. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

The family has requested that donations be made in her memory to a food bank of your choice. The Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine handled the arrangements.

Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.eichholtzfuneralhome.com
