Carol J. Shape

Carol J. Shape, 73, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away at her residence. She was born on February 23, 1936 in West Liberty, Ohio, to the late John David and Gladys Lapp Esch. 

On December 13, 1959, she married John Shape in Bellefontaine, and he preceded her in death on April 10, 1995.  She is also preceded in death by 5 brothers, Floyd, Don, Galen and twin brothers, Dean and Dwight Esch.

Surviving are 2 daughters, Sandy (Martin) Beck and Sheryl (Randy) Risner both of Bellefontaine; brother, John Dale (Iris) Esch of West Liberty; sister, Miriam Grant of Bellefontaine; and 4 grandchildren, Danica and Mackenzie Risner and Madison and Jarrett Beck.

A 1954 West Liberty High School graduate, she worked at Esch�s Meats, and managed the delicatessen at Tinsley's I.G.A., where she retired in January 2005. 

Carol attended the South Union Mennonite Church in West Liberty. She loved traveling and playing cards and being with her family and grandchildren. She was very proud of her home.

Calling hours are Friday, May 1, 2009, from 4 P.M. to 8 P.M. at the Kauffman-Eichholtz Funeral Home in West Liberty.  Pastor Howard Schmitt will conduct the funeral service at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 2, 2009, at the South Union Mennonite Church, where visitations are scheduled 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Huntsville Cemetery in Huntsville, Ohio.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the West Liberty Fire Department  201 N. Detroit St.  West Liberty, Ohio 43357.
