On July 1, 1951, she married William S. Kerns in Bellefontaine, and he preceded her in death on June 6, 1995.

Surviving is a daughter, Beth Clark of Bellefontaine; two sons, Matt (Michelle) Kerns of Sagamore Hills, Ohio, and John W. (Marcella) Kerns of Warner Robins, Georgia; two sisters, Lois Lattimer of Bellefontaine and Delores Ott of Bowling Green, Ohio; four grandchildren, Nicholas and Jessica Kerns, Jason Clark, and Holly Clark Shockley; and three great grandchildren, Logan Clark and Gavin and Garrett Shockley.

Norma and her husband owned and operated Commercial Glassware Sales in Naples, Florida. She also worked for the Goodyear Department Store in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and Elder Beerman in Dayton, Ohio.

She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Bellefontaine where she served on the Church Council, and was a Sunday School Teacher for the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She was a member of the Eastern Star, White Shrine, Friendly Senior Center, and the Bellefontaine Kiwanis Club.

A Girl Scout and Cadet Leader for over 25 years, she was a volunteer for Rachels House in Bellefontaine, and an avid Logan County Duplicate bridge player. In her high school years, she was Life Guard and Swim Instructor in Bellefontaine. She also was a volunteer during election time, and enjoyed bowling, golfing and sewing. Her other enjoyments were fishing at Lake St. Peter in Ontario, Canada and shelling on the Florida Golf Coast.

There will be a memorial service conducted by Pastor Jonathon Bull at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 11, 2009, at the First Lutheran Church in Bellefontaine. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Belle Center, Ohio.
