Paul Edward Wilt

Paul Edward Wilt, 83, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, died peacefully Friday, December 18, 2009, at the Logan Acres Care Center in Bellefontaine where he was lovingly cared for.

Paul was born January 3, 1926, in Bellefontaine, a son of Charles Hewitt and Helen M (Beemer) Wilt. He was raised by his grandparents, Lawrence E. and Rose Ella (Bailey) Beemer.

On June 15, 1943, he married June Evelyn VanBuskirk, who preceded him in death on September 4. 2005. A granddaughter, Kiley Dale Wilt, and a half brother, Donald Grubbs, are also deceased.

Children surviving are Michael (Patricia) Wilt of White Bird, Idaho, Stephen (Kathryn) Wilt of Louisville, Kentucky, and Kimberlee (James) Berton of Bellefontaine; grandchildren, Kristin (James) Clement, Stacey Berton, Jim (Helena) Berton and Matthew Wilt, all of Bellefontaine, Whitney (Ryan) Paulowsky of Atlanta, Georgia, Morgan Wilt of Louisville, Kentucky, Michael Wilt and Eric Wilt both of Maryland; and eight great grandchildren.

Paul served in the United States Navy and was discharged in 1945. He worked for New York Central Railroad for fifteen years. He was a superintendant for Gould Ind. In Urbana, Ohio, and retired in 2001 from Penn Compression in Irwin, Pennsylvania. 

Paul was an exuberant lover of dogs and all nature. He will be remembered for the generous, good humored, gentle man he was.

The staff at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine assisted the family with the arrangements. A graveside service will be in the Bellefontaine Cemetery at a later date.

The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Logan Acres  Mill Creek Unit  21739 CR 91   Bellefontaine, Ohio 43311 or the Logan County Humane Society  2521 US 68 North  Bellefontaine, OH 43311
