Ralph E. Jenkins

Ralph E. Jenkins, 82, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2011 at 2:00 A.M. at the Triumph Hospital in Lima, Ohio. He was born in Huntsville, Ohio December 24, 1928, a son of the late Lewis P. and Doris (Ritchey) Jenkins. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley (Jamison) Jenkins whom he married in Zanesfield, Ohio in May 1951, and she passed away in 1980, and a sister, Norma Cobrun.

On June 30, 1981 in Lewistown, Ohio, he married the former Norma J. (Ansley) Yoder and she survives along with sons, Scot (Carolyn) Jenkins of Acworth, Georgia, and Greg (Sandra) Jenkins of Lewistown, Ohio; a daughter, Luanne (Michael) Powell of Wapakoneta, Ohio; a step daughter, Linda (Aaron) Kite of Bellefontaine; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a brother, Steve (Mel) Jenkins of Grove City, Ohio; and a sister, Donna G. (Michael) Cloud of Amherst, Ohio.

He retired in 1983 as Postmaster in Lewistown, and was a United States Army Veteran serving the Korean War. Ralph was a  long time member of the Lewistown Trinity United Methodist Church, where he served as Treasurer for fifteen years, the American Legion Post # 173, was the Treasurer of Indian Lake School for twenty years, as well as Treasurer of both Cherokee Hill Senior for seventeen years and Tree Link Senior for seventeen years.

Pastor Tim Barlow will conduct the funeral service at 11:00 A.M. Monday, May 16, 2011, at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine, where calling hours are Sunday, May 15, 2011, from 2 to 5 P.M. Interment will take place at Huntsville Cemetery with military honors provided by the Logan County Veteran Honor Guard.
