| Richard Baier Richard Baier, 75, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, died Tuesday, September 14, 2010, in his residence. Born December 28, 1934, in Belle Center, Ohio, he was a son of the late Errett and Helen Torrence Baier. He married Rose Leigh Mayberry on August 4, 1956, in Rockport, and she survives, along with a son, James R. (Miriam) Baier of Huntsville, Ohio; three grandchildren, Brady (Breanna Bland) Baier, Brieanne (Corey) Sullivan and Brittony (Greg) Leonard, all of Belle Center; two great-grandchildren, Samantha and Cain Sullivan; a sister, Hilda (Joel) Milestone of Orlando, Florida; and a sister-in-law, Alice Musser Baier of Galloway, Ohio. He also was preceded in death by a brother, Don Baier August 30, 1997. A 1952 graduate of Huntsville High School, he graduated in 1956 from Ohio Northern University, where he played baseball four years, was a member of the N Men�s Club and Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, which he served as president his senior year. He began teaching and coaching football in 1956 at Belle Center High School. He taught and coached at Urbana Middle School during the 1968-69 year, returning in 1969 to Belle Center where he remained until the consolidation with Benjamin Logan School District. He coached the Logan County football champions in 1957, 1958, 1959 and 1960, and the WCOC football champs in 1961, 1965, 1966 and 1970. He also coached baseball and was considered the dean of Logan County coaches at one time. He was inducted into the Benjamin Logan Athletic Hall of Fame in 2000. He continued teaching and coaching until his retirement in 1986. Upon his retirement, he worked eleven years in the office of Northwood. A member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Bellefontaine, he was a lifetime member of the Ohio Retired Teachers Association. He loved coaching, going to sporting events, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Rev. Rob Fulton officiates the funeral service at 11 A.M. Friday, September 17, 2010 at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Belle Center, where calling hours are from 3 to 8 P.M. Thursday, September 16, 2010. Burial will follow the funeral service at the Fairview Cemetery in Belle Center.
