Richard P. �Dick� Deal

Richard P. �Dick� Deal, 88, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Monday, May 23, 2011, in the emergency room at Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine. He was born in Lena, Miami County, Ohio February 7, 1923, a son of the late Floyd M. and Rosa L. (Hawes) Deal.

On May 3, 1958 in Bellefontaine, he married the former Doris Ilene VanVoorhis and she preceded him in death September 14, 2001. Also preceding him in death were a brother in fancy and another brother, Chester Deal and a sister, Bernice Jenkins.

He is survived by a son, Richard �Rick� Deal of Lima, Ohio; daughters, Karen �Suzie� (Wayne) Linkinhoker and Cheryl (Ron) Morin, both of Zanesfield, Ohio; grandchildren, Brande (Jeff) Harshfield of West Liberty, Ohio, Brad (Christin Moore) Linkinhoker of Rushsylvania, Ohio, Brooke (Paul Marlen) Reeves of Bellefontaine, Brett (Amber Maritan) Linkinhoker of Avon, Ohio, Brianne (Ryan) Hughes of Bellefontaine, Candy (Matt) Schaefer and Christopher Price, both of Bellefontaine, Ross (Baylee Thayer) Price of Hampton, Virginia and Brittany Deal of Tennessee; seventeen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dick graduated from Bellefontaine High School in 1941, and enjoyed getting together with his remaining classmates every four months. He retired from Rockwell International and also worked in for the Logan County School System, AMES and Murphy Mart.

He was a United States Army veteran serving in World War II and was a member of the First Church of God, and the VFW, both in Bellefontaine. He loved to talk and visit with everyone. He knew no strangers and was very sociable. He enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren, great grandchildren and attending their sporting events.

Pastors Ray Headings and Ronald Irick will conduct the funeral service at 11:00 A.M. Friday, June 3, 2011 at the First Church of God in Bellefontaine. Calling hours will be held Thursday, June 2, 2011, from 2 to 4 P.M. and 6 to 8 P.M. at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine. Interment will take place at the Highland Memorial Cemetery in West Liberty, with military honors provided by the Logan County Veteran Honor Guard.
