Shirley Ann Watkins

Shirley Ann Watkins, 79, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Monday, December 27, 2010 at Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine. She was born January 22, 1931 in Bellefontaine, to the late Roy W. and Hattie (Miller) Shawver. 

She married Leslie Dale Watkins February 5, 1949 in Bellefontaine, and he preceded her in death March 25, 1979. 

Surviving are her sons, Robert (Janice) Watkins of Bellefontaine and Douglas (Jean) Watkins of Belle Center, Ohio; a daughter, Connie (Wayne) Geissinger of Upper Sandusky, Ohio; her siblings, Roy W. (Mary) Shawver of Huntsville, Ohio, and Doris (Elmer) Heath of Bellefontaine; and twelve grandchildren and twenty six great grandchildren. 

A 1949 Bellefontaine High School graduate, Shirley attended the Middleburg Methodist Church. She was a member of the Senior Center Group 2; the Friendly Senior Center in Bellefontaine; served thriteen years on the Logan County Senior Fair Board; a member of the S. and C. Club and a former member of the Rebecca Lodge, both in Middleburg.  She enjoyed traveling and playing bingo. 

A celebration of life will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, January 8, 2011, at the Middleburg United Methodist Church, where visitation will be from 2:00 to 3:00 P.M. prior to the service. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Middleburg United Methodist Church or to the Friendly Senior Center. 

The staff at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine handled the arrangements.
