Shirley Kay Dipple

Shirley Kay Dipple, 67, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2009, at The Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She was born on April 19, 1941, in Bellefontaine, to the late John J. and Wilma V. (Weatherby) Downing. 

On June 11, 1960, she married Harold Dipple Jr. in Bellefontaine and he survives. Also surviving are 3 daughters, Julie Hendershot and Jane Dipple both of Bellefontaine and Jennifer (Tim) Walls of DeGraff, Ohio; 1 brother, Richard (Marie) Downing of Bellefontaine; 1 sister, Joan Wiseman of Bellefontaine; 1 half brother, James (Donna) Brewer of Bellefontaine; 3 half sisters, Betty (Ron) Young of Roswell, NM, Martha (John) Peters and Beverly (Jim) Mees both of Bellefontaine; 2 sister-in-laws, Maxine & Edna Downing both of Bellefontaine; and 4 grandchildren, Jessica Dipple, Olivia & Lauren Huffman and Kristen Hendershot. 

A son-in-law, Greg Hendershot and 2 brothers, John Eugene & Robert L. Downing preceded Shirley in death.

Shirley worked for the Bellefontaine City School system as a teacher�s aide and a Library Media Aide from 1974 to 2005. She graduated from Bellefontaine High School in 1959, and was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Bellefontaine. For many years she ministered to the sick and home bound in the parish. She was also a member of the Northern Area Deacon Support Group.

Calling hours are Thursday, March 5, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, March 6, 2009, at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Bellefontaine, with Rev. Patrick Sheridan officiating. A private interment will take place at the Calvary Cemetery in Bellefontaine at a later date.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society at the St. Patrick Catholic Church  328 East Patterson Avenue  Bellefontaine, OH 43311.
