Virginia Thompson

Virginia Thompson, 86, of Belle Center, Ohio, went to rest in the arms of Jesus Monday, October 25, 2010 at her daughters residence in Bellefontaine, Ohio. She was born in Fayette County, Ohio March 1, 1924 to the late John R. and Gertrude (Scott) Peters. Preceding in death was a son, James E. Thompson March 6, 1972, and sisters, Anna Louise Peters and Judy Meyer. 

Sixty seven years ago in Greenup, Kentucky, she married George W. Thompson October 6, 1943, and he survives along with sons, Roger W. (Sandy) Thompson of Kenton, Ohio, and George C. Thompson I of Lakeview, Ohio; daughters, Trudy Thompson of Bellefontaine and Karen L. Shafer of McGuffey, Ohio; a brother, Bob Peters of Waverly, Ohio; sisters, Janet (Alan) Cox of Chillicothe, Ohio, and Carol Eberts of Hamden, Ohio; special family, Bill & Cindy Stratton of Belle Center and Marsha Hammonds of Bellefontaine; twelve grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. 

A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Virginia was a homemaker and farmers wife. She graduated in 1942 from Madison Mills High School and graduated from Bliss Business College in Columbus, Ohio. She worked as a secretary for Thomas Dowd Sr., a criminal lawyer. A faithful Christian servant all her life, she was a member of the Pleasant Hill Primitive Baptist Church in Urbana, Ohio, and was a lifetime charter member of the Harmony Club. She played the cathedral organ and baby piano and sang with Christian groups from around the country. 

Elder Greg Moore and Elder J.C. Hager will officiate the funeral service at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, October 28, 2010 at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Belle Center, where calling hours are from 4 to 7 P.M. Wednesday, October 27, 2010.  Burial will follow the funeral service in the Fairview Cemetery in Belle Center.
