Wilma Plummer

Wilma Plummer, 89, formerly of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Friday, December 25, 2009, at her residence in Flower Mound, Texas. She was born April 28, 1920, the daughter of the late Lafayette and Bertie (Swartz) Markley.

She was a hard worker at D.A.B. in Bellefontaine, the community, and on the farm that was passed on to all of us.  She graduated from Blume High School. She went on to marry Thurman Plummer on September 6, 1942. She loved and found friendship with our Dad and later gave birth to three sons Don, Eldon, and Doug. She was proud of her boys. She wanted nothing but happiness for us. We all grew up on the family farm where Dad and Mom taught us responsibility, love, giving and caring. They molded us into who we became. They gave us hope, humility, and laughter (yes Mom especially loved to laugh). She gave us confidence and our work ethic. Her three boys went on to become men, graduated from The Ohio State University, married and had children. Mom loved her eight grandchildren, really nine grandchildren. This brought her to the ultimate fulfillment in life. This accomplished her dream. She is also survived by two sisters; Pauline Thompson of Florida and Irene Sidener of Cridersville, Ohio.

Then Mom lost her friend and our Dad on February 16, 1995. Her biggest tragedy was the loss of her son March 23, 1999. Eldon is survived by Janice his wife and three children Nathan, Melissa, Brian and their families. They all gave of their time while Mom lived in Bellefontaine. This day is a day of happiness to re-unite with her son Eldon and our Dad in heaven.

Our Mom...she was there for us during our times of joy and pain, she healed our cuts and scrapes, she saw us through our achievements and disappointments, our Mom fed us, bathed us, she gave us happiness. Our Mom served the church and the community. She was active in the United Methodist Church in Belle Center. She enjoyed preparing meals for the church and Kiwanis. She served on the Huntsville Grange. We had many Thanksgivings and Christmases at Mom's family of two brothers and four sisters. Mom enjoyed family gatherings especially when cooking and baking was involved.

Don continues to enjoy life in Michigan. His two daughters are Amanda and Lynn Ann. Mom lived her last few years in Texas with her son Doug and his wife Angie. Their children are Job, Cassie and Ashton. Amber, Job's fiance, has a special place in Mom's heart. Angie and Doug were with Mom by her bedside until her last breath.

We celebrate this life of Wilma Plummer. She accomplished what she set out for, fulfilled her dreams and established a heritage of dreams in people she touched. She has found peace in God. She has started her everlasting life with Christ.

Mom would have wanted us to say special thanks for the help and support of Mercy Hospice (especially our Nurse Andrea) and Dr. M. Patel for their compassionate and caring ways that guided us, so we could bring her home and care for her. We could not have accomplished this without their support.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, December 31, 2009, at the Belle Center United Methodist Church, with Pastor Kevin Smith officiating. Burial will follow the funeral service in the Fairview Cemetery in Belle Center, Ohio. Calling hours will be Wednesday, December 30, 2009, from 2 to 4 P.M. & 6 to 8 P.M. at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Belle Center United Methodist Church  101 S. Center St.  Belle Center, Ohio 43310
